Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans is the youngest club in the IPL together with Lucknow Super Giants. This team is also a former champion and runner-up, which shows that inexperienced squads can also dominate the league. Here are some of their current strengths that are worth mentioning.

Apart from the key power traits, this Indian cricket team is also vulnerable due to certain weaknesses. The most important ones that you should know about are the following:

Gujarat Titans

💪 Possibly the best front 3 batters in the league
💪 They have very strong powerplay bowlers
💪 A good variety of top spin bowlers

⚠️ Lack of a dependent player with good finishing consistency
⚠️ Some concerns over the team’s death-bowling ability
⚠️ Not enough backup players in the batting department

There are several key players that the Gujarat Titans are ready to rely on for the 2025 IPL season. Among them are Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler, Rashid Khan, and Prasidh Krishna.

Historical Performance

Founded in 2021, Gujarat Titans is an up-and-coming Indian cricket team who played in 3 IPL seasons so far. The fans can follow their home matches at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, Gujarat, India. This ground has a capacity of 28,000 spectators.

This club was one of 22 other sides that were applying for the 2 empty spots for the 2022 IPL season. However, the high base price for new teams forced 16 of them to drop out. All of it occurred due to IPL’s Governing Council’s decision to expand the competition to 10 clubs.

With a bid of INR5,625 core, CVC Capital Partners earned the right to operate with the Ahmedabad franchise. In February 2022, they decided to use the name Gujarat Titans for the upcoming IPL season.

Despite being a young cricket club, Gujarat Titans still managed to start strong in the well-established league. They ended up playing in 2 finals in their first two seasons. In the end, they ended up winning the title during their first season. However, the team lost the final in the following season.

Gujarat Titans Rivals

As a young IPL team that only played 3 seasons, the Titans are yet to establish a fierce rivalry with other sides. They need to accumulate much more games, especially in the playoffs, to get to certain team rivalries. At the moment, there are some fans who see Rajasthan Royals as their main competitor.

This somewhat new rivalry started during the team’s first IPL season in 2022. That year, the Titans won the title after defeating the Royals in the quarter-finals and final.

So far, both teams met on 6 different occasions in the league. Gujarat Titans were the better team in 5 of those clashes while Rajasthan Royals won only once in 2023.

Some Titans fans also see Chennai Super Kings as a rival as a result of the 2023 IPL losses. Just as a reminder, both teams met in the quarter-finals and final in the featured season. In the end, the Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans in both matches.

These teams played a total of 7 matches in the past 3 seasons. The Titans are leading the score with 4 wins while the Super Kings have one less. In terms of the highest scores, Gujarat achieved 231 while Chennai has 206.
