Rohit Sharma’s Stats and Performance

Rohit Sharma has played a total of 17 seasons in the IPL. He started out with the Deccan Chargers in 2008 but then signed for Mumbai Indians in 2011. His new club was struggling greatly before his appearance.

In their first 3 seasons, they went to the playoffs once where they lost the final against Chennai Super Kings. With Sharma, the Indians started a positive streak where they booked a place in the playoffs five seasons in a row. They’ve even won two IPL titles in 2013 and 2015.

Sharma captained both seasons and he proceeded to lead the team to three additional trophies in 2017, 2019, and 2020. Under his leadership, Mumbai Indians also won the former Champions League Twenty20 competition in 2013.

On the other hand, this player also won the 2009 IPL with the Deccan Chargers. This makes him level with Ambati Rayudu in terms of players with the most IPL titles in history.

Out of all winning seasons, Sharma’s best is probably the one from 2013. This was his first year with the captain’s armband during which Mumbai Indians won their first title. This season, Sharma managed to score a stunning 538 runs.

We should note that this player is one of 4 cricketers to score at least 6,000 runs in the IPL. You can check the Rohit Sharma stats in the table below.

Rohit Sharma’s Performances in Recent Years

After winning the 2020 IPL title with Mumbai Indians, Sharma’s performance slightly dropped. But, this is the case with the entire team as it entered a difficult phase.

In 2021, this player scored 381 runs, averaging 29.30 per match with a strike rate of 127.42. It wasn’t his worst season as these are still pretty solid numbers. But, the team ended up in fifth position, missing out on the playoffs.

Things went worse in 2022, as Sharma managed to score only 268 runs. He averaged 19.14 per match with a strike rate of 120.18. This was the season when Mumbai Indians ended in last place.

For IPL 2023, Sharma took the initiative and started performing a bit better. In the end, he achieved 332 runs or 20.75 per match. His strike rate went up to 132.80, which was the fifth-best in his career. This year, Mumbai Indians lost in the semi-final against Gujarat Titans.

Last season, this player scored 417, averaging 32.08 per match. He even got a score rate of 150, the highest in his entire T20 career. Sadly, his stunning performances weren’t helpful to the team as the Indians ended in last place once again.

Achievements

Rohit Sharma had an incredible career so far, achieving plenty of team and individual milestones. He even managed to break several records in the past. Here are some of his main accomplishments:

As we mentioned earlier, Rohit Sharma achieved 6 IPL titles and one Champions League Twenty20 trophy. With the Indian national team, he also won the 2007 and 2024 T20 World Cup, the 2013 Champions Trophy, and the 2010, 2016, 2018, and 2023 Asia Cup.

Rohit Sharma IPL 2025

The Rohit Sharma IPL 2025 role will be the same as in previous years. He will act as the team’s main batter but without the captain’s responsibilities. However, as a legendary and highly experienced player, he’ll definitely help the team with his outstanding leadership.

Mumbai Indians rely heavily on his runs as he’s one of the best in the league. If he can repeat last season’s numbers or achieve even better ones, then the team would benefit greatly.

Sharma will also try to help guide younger players in the right direction. This is especially true with batters such as Bevon Jacob and Tilak Varma. The latter is slowly closing on to Sharma in terms of runs and other stats. So, we might see him surpass this legendary player in 2025.
